7 Reflections from 7 Years of Pastoring Transformation Christian Fellowship

Updated: Oct 10, 2023

As I look back on the past seven years of pastoring Transformation Christian Fellowship, I am filled with gratitude for the journey we've undertaken as a congregation. Through the highs and lows, the challenges and triumphs, I've gained invaluable insights that have shaped both my ministry and personal growth. Here are seven reflections that encapsulate the essence of this transformative period:

1. Trust Jesus With Everything:

The foundation of our ministry's success has been rooted in unwavering faith. Trusting Jesus with every aspect of our journey, from the grandest plans to the smallest details, has been our guiding principle. This trust has not only deepened my relationship with Christ but has also allowed us to witness His faithfulness time and again.

2. God's Promise Endures Amidst Change:

Over these seven years, our congregation has evolved, and faces have come and gone. Yet, I've come to understand that the promise of God remains unchanging. People may transition, circumstances may shift, but the promises He has spoken over our ministry stand firm, reminding us that His plan is greater than our current reality.

3. Avoid the Comparison Trap:

One of the greatest hindrances to fulfilling our God-given vision is the temptation to compare ourselves to others. I've learned that this comparison game can blur our focus and divert our energy away from what truly matters. Embracing our unique path and purpose is essential to staying aligned with God's calling.

4. Build for Longevity, Not Trends:

In a world of fleeting trends and momentary fads, it's essential to build our ministry for the long haul. Staying true to the culture God has called us to create, rather than chasing after temporary popularity, ensures a lasting impact. Our focus must be on leaving a legacy that echoes through generations.

5. Simplicity in Ministry:

The complexity of life can often seep into our ministry approach. However, keeping our ministry simple has proven to be a powerful principle. We also keep our focus on only a few areas we want to master that fit our culture and prioritize those things, so that we're not trying to do everything. The straightforward message of God's love and grace resonates deeply with people. Simplicity allows hearts to connect and lives to be transformed.

6. The Power of Consistency:

Consistency has been the key to building trust over time with our congregation. Whether in times of celebration or challenge, remaining steadfast in our commitment has fostered a sense of reliability and authenticity. This trust has been the cornerstone of our community's growth.

7. Leading in Grace:

As a leader, embodying grace has been paramount. Recognizing that we're all on a journey of growth, I've strived to lead with compassion, understanding, and forgiveness. This approach not only nurtures a culture of grace within the congregation but also allows for genuine connection and healing.

Bonus Reflection: Embracing Unexpected Opportunities:

In a surprising turn of events, we found ourselves planting two churches within a single year. While it may have seemed like we weren't ready or at the level we desired, it taught us that God's timing and plans are far beyond our understanding. Embracing these opportunities has expanded our reach and allowed us to impact even more lives.

As I reflect on these seven years of pastoring Transformation Christian Fellowship, I am humbled by the lessons learned and the growth experienced. Each reflection serves as a pillar of wisdom that has guided our journey and will continue to shape our future. May these insights inspire and encourage you in your own ministry and personal walk with Christ.
