Do You Have the Right Friends?

Three friends smiling outdoors, with one making a peace sign. Text reads: "Do you have the right friends?" Green park setting.

Have you ever stopped to think about the kind of friends you keep close? The truth is, your friends can either help you step into God’s presence—or keep you from it. In Get Your Faith Up (Part 14), Pastor Brandon Hill preached from Mark 2:1–12, where a group of friends brought a paralyzed man to Jesus. But here’s the catch: the house was packed, the door was blocked, and yet they didn’t stop.

They tore through the roof to get their friend to Jesus. Why? Because they believed for him when he couldn’t believe for himself.

Here are three key lessons we can learn about friendship from this story:

  1. The environment of faith matters with your friends – If your circle is full of doubt, discouragement, or distractions, your faith will struggle. Surround yourself with people who believe God’s Word and act on it.

  2. The right friends will carry you when you cannot move – Life brings moments where your strength runs out. You need friends who will pray for you, encourage you, and even stand in the gap when you can’t stand on your own.

  3. Faith breaks through barriers – The crowd and the roof weren’t obstacles—they were opportunities. True friends in the faith will help you break through whatever stands between you and your breakthrough.

📖 “When Jesus saw their faith…” – Mark 2:5

Sometimes your miracle isn’t just about your faith—it’s about the faith of those around you.

Choose friends who will dig, climb, and believe until you’re right where you need to be—in the presence of Jesus.
